After leaving their marks on James Madison women's basketball, several Dukes go on to play the game they love professionally. Check in with five former Dukes who are currently playing professionally overseas and/or in the WNBA:
JAZMON GWATHMEY

Gwathmey became the third Duke in JMU history to be drafted into the WNBA when she was selected 14th overall by the Minnesota Lynx in 2016. Her rights were then traded to the San Antonio Stars, where she played her rookie season, averaging 3.3 points and 1.7 rebounds over 16 minutes per game. She had a WNBA career-high 16 points on Aug. 28 at Washington and a career-high 37 minutes played against Los Angeles on Sept. 1. Following her WNBA rookie campaign, Gwathmey began her overseas playing career with the University of Canberra Capitals in Australia's WNBL. Over eight games played, she is averaging 7.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
TOIA GIGGETTS

Giggetts is playing overseas for Geneve Basket Elite in the LNA in Switzerland. Through six games in the 2016-17 season, she is leading the team in points (18.3), rebounds (11.0), assists (4.7) and blocks (0.7) per game. Last year, she played at Lancy PLO in LNB and finished as the league's fifth-best scorer, which earned her a selection to the Eurobasket.com Swiss LNA All-Imports Team.
KIRBY BURKHOLDER

Burkholder is spending the 2016-17 season in Hungary playing at the A Division with ZTE Noi Kosarlabda Klub. She leads the team in points (20.3), rebounds (5.5) and steals (2.8) per game through six contests. This marks her third season playing professionally overseas, spending her rookie year in Italy and her second in Belgium.
JASMINE GILL

Gill currently plays for Telge Basket in Sweden's professional women's basketball league after spending 2015-16 in Australia with Kilsyth LC. Through six games played, she leads the team in average minutes (35.3) and is second in points (18.3), rebounds (9.2), assists (2.2) and blocks (0.3) per contest.
TAMERA YOUNG

Young was the first Duke in program history to be drafted into the WNBA, going eighth overall (first round) in the 2008 draft to the Atlanta Dream. Halfway through her second season in the WNBA, she was traded to the Chicago Sky, where she has remained since 2009. In her ninth professional season, she averaged 8.5 points per game with 4.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists over 25.8 minutes played per outing. She helped guide the Sky to the 2016 WNBA Semifinals, their fourth consecutive playoff appearance in franchise history.
