QUOTING HEAD COACH MICKEY DEAN"Again I thought our pitchers did a masterful job of attacking hitters and allowing our defense to play with ease and make nice plays. In the first game I think our hitters were surprised at how Virginia kept us off balance but in the second game our bats came alive a little bit. We continue to work on pitch selection but in the end we grinded out two wins and that is what this game is all about. "Â
NOTEWORTHY NUMBERSGood's outing against Virginia was the 11th shutout of her career and fifth of the season. Ford tossed her 28th career and third season shutout.
SCORELESS STREAKThe Dukes have held their opponents scoreless through 23 consecutive innings. Good and Ford have tossed four shutouts in the last five games while the offense has outscored opponents 8-1.
