Jazmon Gwathmey Drafted 14th Overall in WNBA Draft

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison guard Jazmon Gwathmey was selected 14th overall in the 2016 WNBA Draft on Thursday night by the Minnesota Lynx. Her draft rights were then traded to the San Antonio Stars.
Gwathmey is the third Duke in JMU women's basketball history to be drafted into the WNBA, joining Tamera Young (Atlanta Dream, 2008 – eighth overall) and Lauren Okafor (Atlanta Dream, 2015 – 34th overall).
The 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year led the Dukes with 20.7 points per game, the 22nd-highest average in the nation this season and fifth-highest single-season average in JMU history. She also earned her third consecutive CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player award and the 2016 Virginia Sports Information Directors Player of the Year honor among a multitude of other accolades.
Gwathmey finished her collegiate career eighth all-time in JMU scoring with 1,555 career points, second all-time in JMU blocks with 173 and fourth in total games played by playing in 136 JMU contests.
