HARRISONBURG, Va. – Colonial Athletic Association champion James Madison earned a No. 7 seed and will host the Harrisonburg Regional in the 2016 NCAA Softball Championship, the NCAA selection committee announced Sunday night during the Selection Show on ESPNU.
The Dukes were selected as the No. 7 overall seed in the tournament bracket and will welcome Princeton, Longwood and North Carolina for the four-team double-elimination regional. The Harrisonburg Regional will take place Friday, May 20-22 at Veterans Memorial Park. Top-seeded JMU will face fourth-seeded Princeton on Friday, while third-seeded Longwood will take on second-seeded North Carolina Friday.
By claiming the CAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, JMU is making its fourth straight NCAA appearance under the leadership of Head Coach
Mickey Dean. This marks the second regional that JMU has hosted in program history after welcoming Fordham, NC State and Binghamton in 2015.
Princeton owns a 23-26 record and earned its bid after claiming the Ivy League Championship. Longwood enters the tournament with a 38-18 record, fresh off their second consecutive Big South Championship. North Carolina rounds out the bracket with one of the 32 at-large bids after posting a 31-23 record in 2016.
Host JMU holds a 46-4 record after winning all three games as the top seed of the CAA Tournament last weekend. The Dukes defeated No. 5 Delaware 2-0 and No. 2 Towson 14-2 in five innings and 8-0 in six innings in the championship game. The 2016 title marks the third in program history (2009, 2014) and the sixth appearance in the title game.

No. 4 Princeton Tigers (23-26)
- Won Ivy League Championship series, taking two of three games from Harvard
- Claimed Ivy League South Division regular season with a 14-6 record
- Princeton has won 19 Ivy League titles, making its first NCAA appearance since 2008
