HARRISONBURG, Va. - James Madison Athletics is proud to partner once again with the University Outpost to present the annual Meet the Dukes Day, which will be held Saturday, August 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Bridgeforth Stadium.
The interactive event is free to the public. Fans can enter the stadium through Gate B and are encouraged to park in the Champions Drive parking deck, G-Lot and P-Lot for the quickest access to Bridgeforth (click here for parking map).
This will be the first opportunity for fans to meet the 2016 JMU football team, as well as several other JMU sports teams. It will feature activities and meet-and-greet opportunities on the field level of Zane Showker Field. Once gates open, fans may watch the final 30 minutes of football practice from the east-side bleachers prior to joining them on the field once practice concludes.
While at the event, kids can register for the JMU Dukes Puppy Pound, presented by Chick-Fil-A. It will be the first opportunity for Puppy Pound members to pick up this year's t-shirt and membership card. Members of the Athletic Ticket Office staff will be in attendance to provide information on season and single-game ticket options. Fans can purchase tickets during Meet the Dukes.
There will be a photo station for fans to try on a JMU football helmet and shoulder pads, and the JMU inflatable bounce house and games will be set up for additional entertainment. JMU is also offering free raffles for prizes, which includes tickets to home games during the upcoming season.
Among other experiences, the JMU women's soccer, volleyball, field hockey and men's soccer teams will be on hand from 6:45 until 7:30 to interact with fans in activity stations on the field.
"Meet the Dukes Day is a great event to get our fans and the Harrisonburg community excited for the new athletic year," Head Coach Mike Houston said. "It's a neat opportunity for everyone to interact and get to know our incredible student-athletes who work very hard both on and off the field to make JMU Nation proud. We're excited to be a part of this great, annual event and can't wait to see everyone out at Bridgeforth on August 13."
JMU football begins the 2016 season, presented by CarMax, on Saturday, September 3 at home against Morehead State. Season tickets, as well as mini-plan packages and single-game tickets, are on sale now and can be purchased at JMUTickets.com, by phone at 540-568-3853 or by visiting the JMU Ticket Office.
