JMU to Face a 17-Game Regular-Season Slate in Fall 2017

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison field hockey has a 17-game slate set for the Fall 2017 season, including nine home games, the Dukes announced Thursday.

JMU's schedule includes a road rematch of the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association championship game at Delaware, the defending national champions, and four meetings with Atlantic Coast Conference members.

The Dukes open the season on the road at Liberty on Aug. 26 before heading home for five straight games, including the home opener against Old Dominion on Aug. 30. They open CAA action against Drexel in Harrisonburg on Oct. 6.

The 2017 CAA Championship begins Nov. 3 at the site of the regular-season champion.

JMU made a third consecutive appearance in the CAA title game in 2016, accumulating a 13-7 overall record. Junior midfielder Hannah Hall earned Third Team All-America honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association and was joined in Division I All-South Region honors by sophomore forward Miranda Rigg. Freshman defender Florien Sondern joined the two in taking home Virginia All-State accolades.
