BROOKLINE, Mass. – Big innings led James Madison to drop a 6-2 loss to Northeastern in the second game of a Colonial Athletic Association baseball series at Friedman Diamond on Friday afternoon.
The Dukes fell to 24-26 on the season and 7-16 in the CAA, while the Huskies moved to 27-23 overall and 15-7 in the league.
Junior right fielder Adam Sisk led the Dukes at the plate, going 2-for-4.
JMU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth when freshman left fielder Fox Semones was hit by a pitch, stole second base, moved to third on Sisk's single and scored on redshirt first baseman Brett Johnson's sacrifice fly.
The Huskies used a bases-clearing double and an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-1 lead. They would extend that advantage to 6-1 in the eighth with a two-run home run by Ryan Solomon.
The Dukes got one back in the ninth with an RBI single by freshman second baseman Matt Dipasupil to score senior designated hitter Ky Parrott, who had walked.
Junior left-hander Colton Harlow (3-3) took the loss, but struck out 10 batters in seven innings of work, and allowed four runs on just five hits. Northeastern's Brian Christian (7-2) allowed one run in eight innings to earn the win.
