HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison rose back into the top five of both major national polls this week, coming in at No. 4 in the STATS FCS Top 25 and at No. 5 in the AFCA Coaches' Top 25.
The Dukes (5-2, 3-1 CAA) rolled to a 37-0 win at Villanova last Saturday, earning their second-largest win ever against the Wildcats while extending their current road-game win streak to 13 straight games against FCS teams.
D'Angelo Amos was named Colonial Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Week after returning two punts for a touchdown in a span of 2:20 of the third quarter. He became the second JMU player to ever return two punts for a score, joining JMU Hall of Famer Gary Clark. He also set a CAA record with 183 total punt return yards and tied the program record for longest return, as his first went for 89 yards.
JMU shut down Villanova's offense, limiting the hosts to 157 total yards and 2.7 yards per play. The Dukes thrived up front, making season highs of 13.0 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks while holding the Wildcats to just 1.5 yards per rush.
North Dakota State is once again the unanimous No. 1 team in both polls. Following NDSU in the media poll were South Dakota State, Kennesaw State, JMU and Jacksonville State. On the coaches' side, KSU was No. 2, followed by No. 3 SDSU, No. 4 JSU and No. 5 JMU.
In the CAA, a total of seven teams are ranked in both polls. Behind the Dukes are Elon (11/11), Towson (13/14), Maine (16/20), Stony Brook (18/17), Rhode Island (22/23) and Delaware (24/25).
