HARRISONBURG, Va. – After leading by just one in the fourth quarter, James Madison women's basketball went on a roll to defeat Georgetown 69-57. The Dukes are 3-0 for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

Kamiah Smalls rattled off the first five points of the game to give the Dukes (3-0) their first lead of the game. It was a lead they would not hold on to for long as Georgetown (3-1) came right back into it and tied it up just under the five-minute mark in the first quarter. The two teams would go back and forth to end the quarter as the Hoyas took a 10-9 lead.

Just as they did to end the first quarter, the two teams would go up and down the court looking for the outright lead. After Georgetown took a 17-16 lead midway through the frame, JMU rattled off five points to take the lead 21-17. The Dukes never trailed for the remainder of the half and went into the locker room up 30-25.

Georgetown opened the third quarter on a 5-0 run to tie the game for the sixth time. It would be a hard-fought battle for the two squads, but the Dukes remained in the lead 45-44 with one quarter to play.

The Dukes went on a 6-0 run behind five points from Jackie Benitez to take a seven-point lead, 51-46. JMU would not quit during its run against the Hoyas and held them scoreless for the final two minutes to take the win 69-57.
