Â
Â
Name: Sophia Davis
Height: 6-1
Position: Middle Hitter
Hometown/High School: Plantation, Fla./Saint Thomas Aquinas
Career Highlights: Recognized as Sun Sentinel Newspaper Player of the Year following her senior season as team captain… Under Armour All-American Honorable Mention and Under Armour All-American team in 2018… Member of the Miami Herald All-Count First Team and the Sun Sentinel All-County First Team in 2017… Voted the Raiders' Offensive Player of the Year for her junior year performance… Began playing competitive volleyball her sophomore year, moving from junior varsity to varsity… Played varsity basketball during her freshman year at The American School Foundation in Mexico City, Mexico and was team captain.
Coach Steinbrecher's Thoughts: "Sophie Davis has shown tremendous progress on the court in a very short amount of time. When we recruited her, we knew she was going to be big time - we just didn't know when. To our excitement, she has already helped her high school team win an 8A State Championship in Florida, while also earning Player of the Year honors as a Middle Hitter. That feat alone is impressive due to the nature of the position and only being on the court for 3 rotations. Sophie plays every point with tenacity and finds ways to make an impact for her team offensively and defensively. Sophie and her family have lived all over the Americas and bring a very diverse background to JMU and our program. We are sure she will be teaching us just as much as we hope to teach her."

Â
Name: Caroline Dozier
Height: 6-0
Position: Setter
Hometown/High School: Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons
Career Highlights: Under Armour All-American Honorable Mention, Conference Co-Player of the Year and All-Conference following her senior campaign… Led her team to the Eastern Regional Finals and was awarded team MVP in 2018… In 2017, took squad to Eastern Regional Finals and was named team MVP as well as News and Observer All-Metro… Was named All-Conference and team MVP during her sophomore campaign… Qualified for open Nationals with her club team, Triangle Volleyball Club, three years in a row (2015-17).
Coach Steinbrecher's Thoughts: "Caroline Dozier is a setter who loves to grind it out. She's a true competitor and understands that being a setter isn't just helping your hitters get kills. She brings defense, leadership and grit to the court. She'll be the first in and the last out of the gym and she's more than happy to stick around and get her teammates extra reps. Caroline was our first commitment in the class and we have really enjoyed watching the amount of progress she has made with her setting, strategy and maturity out on the court. She's the type of student athlete that makes everyone better because of who she is as a player and a person. I know it will be a fun four years coaching Caroline."

Name: Danielle Nathan
Height: 6-0
Position: Outside Hitter
Hometown/High School: Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends School
Career Highlights: Four-time First Team All-Conference… Three-time member of the Delaware First Team All-State… Was tabbed Delaware state Player of the Year following her senior season… Also competed in the high jump and was a three-time state champion… also plays volleyball with the Brandywine volleyball club under head coach Mike Sachs.
Coach Steinbrecher's Thoughts: "Danielle Nathan was a relatively late commitment for us and it just goes to show that it works out the way it should in the end. I am thrilled to be her college coach. She had an excellent high school season, breaking the Delaware state career kill record as well as earning Delaware Player of the Year honors. She has a simple, straightforward and effective style of play which we cannot wait to build on. She certainly has the potential to be a 6 rotation pin player for us and a feared face in the conference. Â She is known in the state of Delaware as the 'Slim Reaper' for her stature and consistent ability to get kills. I could not be more excited to have Dani in our volleyball family."
