Dukes Start CAA Play with 6-1 Win at Delaware

ELKTON, Md. – James Madison men's tennis opened Colonial Athletic Association action on Friday morning with a 6-1 victory at Delaware, moving the Dukes to 3-1 overall this spring.
Freshman Àlvaro Arce and junior Pierre Kohler played roles in each of the clinching points of the afternoon, beginning with a paired win at No. 2 doubles to secure the first point for the Dukes.
In singles, Arce and Kohler wrapped their singles matches at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, at the same time and pushed JMU to a 4-0 lead, reaching match point.
Sophomores Paul Mendoza and Tate Steinour also went 2-0 on the afternoon, picking up a doubles and singles victory apiece.

"It was great to get our first conference win today. The guys set the tone with solid doubles at all three positions. When we moved to singles, they jumped out ahead quickly in most of the singles matches, being efficient with their play. We'll now travel to Hofstra and look forward to our match up there tomorrow."

The Dukes continue league play on Saturday, Feb. 10 with a 4 p.m. match at Hofstra.
