HARRISONBURG, Va. – Freshman
Liz Norman earned her third Rookie of the Year honor and three Dukes were voted All-State in the VaSID (Virginia Sports Information Directors) Women's Tennis University Division honors. All three earned All-State honors for the first time in their careers.Â

Norman earned her third Rookie of the Year award after being tabbed both the ITA Atlantic Region Rookie of the Year and CAA Rookie of the Year. Norman also earned First Team All-State status for both singles and doubles. She was joined by
Abby Amos for doubles on first team. Norman finished her freshman season with an overall record of 26-3 in singles play. She closed dual season with a program best win percentage of .947 and a record of 18-1.Â

Amos and Norman began the year winning the doubles championship at the 2017 Bedford Cup. They finished the season with a 7-1 overall record while playing at the No. 1 doubles spot. The two were also previously named All-CAA First Team for doubles.Â

Anna Makarova was named All-State Second Team for singles. She previously earned All-CAA First Team singles. She posted a 16-4 record in dual play and a 23-7 overall mark, splitting time between No.2 and 3. She was the only Duke to finish the dual season with a perfect 5-0 mark in CAA play.Â

JMU finished the year with its most wins in program history (21) and the second-best win percentage (.840) following a 21-4 record and a second-place finish at the 2018 CAA Women's Tennis Championship.Â
