RICHMOND, Va. – Despite a fairly even matchup between the two squads, James Madison volleyball fell at Virginia Commonwealth University, 3-2 (25-21, 21-25, 23-25, 25-23, 17-15), Monday night at the Seigel Center.

After dropping a close first set, the Dukes (8-3) won back-to-back games in the second and third sets. The Rams (5-7) utilized a 3-0 run in the final set to ultimately take the win.

Junior
Briley Brind'Amour notched a team-high 16 kills, while four other players joined her in double-digit kills. Junior
Sarah Martin turned in a double-double performance with a career-high 58 assists and 13 digs while junior
Sarah Driscoll also tallied a career-high achievement with 34 digs. With nine blocks, junior
M'Kaela White led the match.

MATCH NOTES
- Brind'Amour (16) was joined by White (14),
Kelly Vahos (13),
Taylor Gail (11) and
Bryn Recker (11) in the double-digit kills category.
- Gail posted a team-high .450 attack percentage with her 11 kills on 20 attempts, only tallying two errors.
- Recker added 10 digs to her efforts to secure her seventh double-double on the season.
- With 13 digs on the night,
Jacqui Koebel was one shy of her season high.
- Not only did Martin set a new career high in assists, she also accomplished a season high with her 13 digs.
- The Dukes slated a second-set .402 hitting percentage on 19 kills. Â
- In both the first and fourth sets, JMU curbed the VCU set point with 3-0 runs.
- JMU opened the fourth set on a 5-0 run which included three kills from Recker and two spikes from Vahos.
