Second-Seeded Dukes to Face Monmouth in FCS Second Round

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Second-seeded James Madison will host Monmouth in the second round of the 2019 NCAA FCS Playoffs on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. at Bridgeforth Stadium/Zane Showker Field.

The Dukes (11-1) earned the two seed and first-round bye during the NCAA FCS Selection Show, while the Hawks (11-2) advanced in the playoffs with a 44-27 first-round win against Holy Cross on Saturday in West Long Branch, N.J.

This weekend marks the first meeting between the two teams, as it pits two outright conference champions with JMU winning the Colonial Athletic Association and Monmouth claiming the Big South Conference.

Saturday is JMU's second matchup against a Big South team in the postseason, as it fell 26-21 to Liberty in the first round of the 2014 playoffs. Since the league's inception in 2003, JMU is 10-2 all-time against the Big South.

JMU is making its program-record sixth straight postseason appearance and the 16th in its 48-season history.
