WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The James Madison Dukes fell to 18-17 on the season and a 2-8 in conference play, with a 7-1 defeat to William & Mary. Wade Strain picked up the win for a Tribe, pitching a complete game against the Dukes.Â

The Dukes collected the first hit of the ballgame in the second inning thanks to a
Fox Semones single through the left side. In the bottom half the Tribe would strike first, collecting three runs to take a 3-0 lead. A balk opened the scoring in the second, before Jack Cone tripled to right field scoring Matthew Trehub.Â

In the bottom of the sixth Matt McDermott tripled to left center, clearing a bases loaded situation and eventually scored on the play by an errant throw. Game two of the series is set for 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
