HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison field hockey head coach
Christy Morgan announced the 2019 schedule, which features nine home matchups and five contests against NCAA Championship participants.

"I'm really excited about the 2019 schedule because I'm excited about the 2019 team," said Morgan. "Our slate is a balanced schedule with lots of very competitive opponents. I Â think we're ready to compete against anyone and I'm happy that we scheduled tough competition to challenge us and bring out our best."

The Dukes begin their 2019 slate traveling to Bucknell (Aug. 30) and Liberty (Sep. 1) before hosting Ohio state for the home opener on Friday, Sep. 6 followed by hosting Georgetown the following Sunday, Sep. 8.

JMU will hit the road to College Park, Md. to take on American (Sep. 13) on Maryland's field, followed by facing National Runner-up Maryland on Sunday, Sep. 15.

The Dukes host old conference rival Old Dominion (Sep. 22) and traveling to take on Virginia (Sep. 24). The Cavilers fell in the First Round of the 2018 NCAA Championship to Princeton. Closing out September, JMU will host reigning National Champions North Carolina on Sunday, Sep. 29. UNC went a perfect 23-0 during its 2018 campaign.

Opening up October, JMU will travel to reigning CAA Champion and NCAA participant William & Mary (Oct. 4). The Dukes will hit the road for a matchup at Richmond (Oct. 6) before beginning a five-game homestand.

The five-game homestand consists of three CAA matchups beginning with Drexel (Oct. 11), Hofstra (Oct. 13) and Northeastern (Oct. 25). JMU will also host NCAA participant Duke (Oct. 20) and St. Francis (Oct. 27).

JMU will wrap up its 2019 regular season slate at Towson (Nov. 1) and at Delaware (Nov. 3). The 2019 CAAÂ Field Hockey Championship will be held at the top seed from league play on Nov. 8 and Nov.10, with the champion earning the automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
