TAMPA, Fla. – James Madison women's tennis rolled to a 5-2 victory at USF on Thursday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Dukes improved to 10-4 while the Bulls fell to 5-7. JMU claimed a pair of matches in doubles to take an early 1-0 lead and won four of six singles matches in straight sets to earn the team victory.
Senior
Jona Roka and sophomore
Daria Afansyeva beat Janvhi Clark and Margriet Timmermans 6-4 on court two, and sophomores
Amanda Nord and
Kylie Moulin took a 7-6 decision on court three against Lucia Garrigues and Alexandria Mjos to lead the match 1-0.
In singles, USF tied the match at 1-1 with a victory on court five. The Dukes answered with three straight singles wins to clinch the match.
Nord overcame Selin Yaylali by scores of 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles, and Moulin followed with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win against Grace Eland at No. 3 singles. JMU sealed the team win at No. 4 singles, as sophomore
Daniela Voloh cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 triumph versus Garrigues.
USF made it a 4-2 match with a win on court one before Afanasyeva closed the match at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Mjos.
