HARRISONBURG, Va. - The James Madison men's and women's basketball teams will take the court on national or regional television at least 16 times across the 2021-22 seasons, as announced by JMU and the Colonial Athletic Association on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
"JMU basketball's profile - both men's and women's - is on the rise, and it's imperative that the exposure of our programs matches this upward trajectory," JMU Director of Athletics
Jeff Bourne said. "Altogether, we'll have the most regular-season TV appearances in JMU basketball history, with at least 16 and possibly as many as 18. This includes a minimum of four and possible total of six men's national broadcasts on CBS Sports Network as part of the CAA's package. We're also thrilled to expand our JMU-produced regional broadcasts on NBC Sports Washington to six games for each program."
Â
As part of the league's partnership with CBS Sports Network, JMU men's basketball will be televised at least four times, with matchups at Delaware (Jan. 3) and Northeastern (Feb. 3) as well as a home game against Elon (Feb. 10) joining the Dukes' previously-announced contest against Virginia (Dec. 7) on national broadcasts.
Â
The league has also designated Feb. 17 and Feb. 26 as "wild card" dates, which will see the league select the best matchups possible to be aired on CBS Sports Network. The Dukes' games at College of Charleston (Feb. 17) and at home against Towson (Feb. 26) are both candidates to be selected for an additional appearance on CBSSN. Additionally, the network will carry the CAA Men's Basketball Championship semifinals and final on March 7 and 8, respectively.
Â
JMU Athletics will also continue its partnership with NBC Sports Washington to air an additional six home games each for both the men's and women's basketball teams across the 2021-22 seasons.
Â
JMU women's basketball will have its first broadcast of the season on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. when the Dukes welcome Villanova to Harrisonburg on NBCSW. The Dukes will also have CAA matchups against Hofstra, Towson, UNCW, Drexel and Delaware appear across NBCSW and NBCSW+.
Â
The men's team will face in-state foe George Mason on NBCSW+ on Nov. 19 before entering into its league slate, where it will face Northeastern, UNCW, Drexel, Delaware and William & Mary across the two NBCSW platforms.
