HARRISONBURG, Va. -
Jerrell Roberson has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Dukes for the 2022-23 season, as announced by Head Coach
Mark Byington on Thursday.
Â
Heading into his senior season, Roberson is already ranked among the top 10 players in the DMV, having competed against some of the country's best talent with both DeMatha Catholic and Team Takeover. Roberson helped lead DeMatha to the 2020 WCAC Championship and an undefeated season in 2021.
Â
"Jerrell is very accomplished in many areas," Byington said. "He is a talented basketball player, an exceptional student and has high character. His future in basketball is very bright and he has a high ceiling that we look forward to pushing him towards. He has already played a very high level of basketball at DeMatha and with Team Takeover."

Â
At DMV Live earlier this summer, Roberson averaged 10.6 points and 4.8 rebounds against some of the best competition in the country, while shooting 66% from the field and knocking down nine of his 12 three-pointers.
Â
The 6'9" forward will join a JMU roster that is slated to lose just one letterwinner following the 2021-22 campaign.
Â
The Dukes opened their 2021-22 season on Wednesday night with a 135-40 win over Carlow and will return to the Atlantic Union Bank Center on Saturday, Nov. 13, for a 4 p.m. matchup against in-state rival Old Dominion.
