Chase DeLauter continues his tour around the top of college draft boards as he comes in as the top player on Perfect Game's Top 150 College Prospects for the 2022 MLB Draft, the organization announced Monday morning. DeLauter was ranked at No. 3 for Perfect Game's Top 300 Draft Board.
He was previously ranked the sixth best college draft prospect by MLB Pipeline earlier this fall.
DeLauter has had a busy 2021 calendar year, as he slashed .386/.500/.723 during the spring season in 26 games on his way to winning the conference batting title and earning All-Conference First Team and All-Rookie Team honors. He added six home runs and 21 RBI's while reaching base safely in 25 of the 26 games and ending the season on a 16-game hitting streak.
He then went to the Cape Cod League where he excelled during the summer, tying for the league lead in home runs with nine while also hitting .298 and knocking in 21 runs. He became the first JMU player to earn the Robert A. McNeese Outstanding Pro Prospect Award following his summer season and then earned the Summer Breakout Prospect Award by D1Baseball.
In 42 career games in the purple and gold, DeLauter is a .385 hitter with seven home runs and 35 RBI's. He's reached base safely in 40 of those games while recording a hit in 37 of them, having two separate hit streaks of 15 or more games.
