LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior
Sophia Davis has been awarded East Coast All-Region recognition, while sophomore
Miëtte Veldman has been named Honorable Mention All-Region, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Tuesday.

Davis has earned All-Region honors for the second time in her career, having done so as a freshman in 2019.

The middle blocker led the Dukes with 107 total blocks (1.22/set), which ranked second in the conference this season. She attacked for 253 total kills (2.88/set), hitting at an astounding .370 rate.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native was named All-Conference First Team on Nov. 17, after being named preseason All-Conference and earning Conference Defensive Player of the Week twice during the season.

Veldman was named Honorable Mention All-Region for the first time in her career. Her recognition adds to a slew of awards this season, including Conference Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team, and CoSIDA Academic All-District.

The outside hitter led JMU with 303 kills, and her 4.09 kills/set were tops in the league. Veldman led the Dukes in kills, kills/set, points, and points/set this season, while adding 170 digs (2.30/set) defensively.

James Madison wrapped up the 2021 campaign with a 17-7 overall record and an 11-5 second-place mark in the conference.
