HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison softball (27-1, 14-1 Colonial Athletic Association) moved up to #24 in the USA Today / NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll while the team takes over #23 in the ESPN.com / USA Softball Top 25 Poll, as announced by the committees on Tuesday afternoon.

This is the third consecutive week that JMU has earned a spot in the ESPN.com / USA Softball poll and the second week in the USA Today / NFCA Coaches Poll. James Madison is the only CAA team to be ranked in the national polls.

The Dukes currently having their best record in program history as they are 27-1 overall, 14-1 in conference play, ranking second in the nation for win-loss percentage (.964) behind #1 Oklahoma. JMU's on a 17-game winning streak which includes five weekend series sweeps, four of which were over conference opponents Charleston, Elon and twice over UNCW.
JMU is ranked seventh in the nation for on base percentage (.432), fifth in scoring per game (7.54) and fourth in slugging percentage (.618).
Sara Jubas leads the team with a .402 batting average scoring 30 runs and recording 24 RBI this season. She was named CAA Player of the Week after recording a .643 batting average, with four doubles and two home runs after five games
. Kate Gordon has driven in 38 runners this season while scoring 29 times and holds a .389 batting average.
The pitching staff is ranked 14
th in ERA (1.72) while
Odicci Alexander ranks 14
th in the nation for ERA with a 1.02.
Alissa Humphrey and Alexander have both found a spot on the nation's top 20 list for strikeouts per seven innings as Humphrey is 11
th (11.1) and Alexander is 13
th (10.8).
Alexander was named CAA Pitcher of the Week after going 3-0 in the circle recording one shutout and 35 strikeouts in 20.0 innings with no earned runs. Humphrey was tabbed Rookie of the Week after she recorded two wins in the circle with 21 strikeouts in 10.1 innings.
