HARRISONBURG, Va. – #22 James Madison softball will make its eighth straight NCAA appearance as the Dukes were selected for the Knoxville Regional in the 2021 NCAA Softball Championship, as announced by the NCAA Selection Committee on Sunday night.

Tennessee was selected as the # 9 seed where they will host the Dukes, Liberty and Eastern Kentucky. JMU will play Liberty on Friday, May 21 at 12 p.m. on ESPNU. This will be the 22
nd matchup between JMU and Liberty as the Dukes leads the Flames 13-9 winning the last three match ups.

The winner of the double-elimination NCAA Regional will move on to the best-of-three NCAA Super Regional, taking place May 27-30 against the winner of the Columbia Regional. The Women's College World Series will be held June 3-5 in a best-of-three series.

The Dukes earned the Colonial Athletic Association's automatic bid into the tournament after dominating the 2021 CAA Championship to earn their sixth title.Â

In three games, JMU outscored its opponents 32-0, recorded 26 hits with 10 being home runs and finished with a .413 team batting average.
Kate Gordon was named Most Outstanding Player of the CAA Tournament after going 7-for-9 at the plate recording two home runs in each game, setting a tournament for home runs (6) and RBI (12).
Logan Newton tied a CAA Tournament record and JMU single-game record for RBI as she recorded seven in the championship game against Delaware.

Odicci Alexander recorded a no-hitter and a two-hit shutout over Delaware. In her no-hitter, she struck out 16 batters setting a career-high and CAA Tournament single-game record as she came a walk shy of a perfect game. Over two games, she struck out 28 of the 39 batters she faced over the course of 12.0 innings.
Alissa Humphrey recorded a five-inning no-hitter, her fourth of the season, helping the Dukes defeat Drexel 10-0 in CAA Semifinals.
