Kate Gordon of James Madison softball has been named DI Softball's Player of the Week after her outstanding performance at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship, as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
Gordon led JMU at the plate going 7-for-9 while setting a CAA Tournament record for home runs (6) and RBI (12). She is currently one long ball away from the tying the CAA home run record (68). The outfielder hit a leadoff home run in all three games of the tournament and scored seven runs over the course of the championship.
In the CAA Semifinals, she went 3-for-3 against second-seeded Drexel with two home runs and a double, helping her tie her career-high for RBI (6) in a game. In the title game, Gordon went 2-for-2 with three runs and four RBI against fourth-seeded Delaware, to help the Dukes claim the 2021 CAA Championship title.
JMU travels to the Knoxville Regional to take on #25 Liberty on Friday, May 21, at 12 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
