INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – James Madison is headed to Chapel Hill, N.C. to open play in the 2021 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship, as it will take on #14 Johns Hopkins in the first round on Friday, May 14.

The game is set for a 5 p.m. start at Dorrance Field on the campus of North Carolina. The winner of JMU and Hopkins advances to the round of 16 to face top-seeded North Carolina on Sunday, May 16 at noon.
The 20th-ranked Dukes are fresh off winning their fourth consecutive Colonial Athletic Association title and the 13th in program history on Sunday afternoon with a 13-12 overtime victory against #10 Drexel.

They became the first team in CAA history to claim four straight tournament titles. JMU is 11-4 on the year and riding a six-game win streak.
Friday will mark the second meeting all-time between the Dukes and Blue Jays. In the inaugural meeting, JMU upended Johns Hopkins 14-9 in the first round of the NCAA Championship on May 13, 2004.

Should the Dukes advance, they would be facing the Tar Heels for the 14th time and second this year. JMU is 4-9 all-time versus UNC, which includes a pair of wins in the 2018 season with one coming in the national semifinals.

JMU is making its 17th appearance in the NCAA Championship, holding a 12-15 (.444) all-time mark in the tournament.
