Dukes Add Defensive Lineman Jamare Edwards for 2022

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison Head Coach Curt Cignetti announced the addition of one final mid-year transfer in defensive lineman Jamare Edwards.
Edwards spent the previous five seasons at Marshall (2017-21) and will have one year of eligibility remaining for the Dukes.
The Miami, Fla., native is a two-time All-Conference USA selection, earning Second Team honors in 2020 and Honorable Mention laurels in 2021. He was also on watch lists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Rotary Lombardi Award this past year, recognizing the top linemen in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Edwards played in 34 career games for the Thundering Herd, racking up 87 tackles with 12.0 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 17 quarterback hurries a forced fumble and one fumble recovery. This past season, he tallied 36 tackles with 4.5 TFL and 2.0 sacks with 11 hurries.
JMU will begin its transition to the FBS and Sun Belt Conference in the 2022 season.
