Sophie Davis has been named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Davis led the conference in blocks this past weekend, averaging 1.83 blocks per set in the pair of sweeps over Georgia Southern. She tallied two solo blocks and nine block assists. The senior recorded eight blocks in Saturday's match and helped the Dukes hold Georgia Southern to a hitting percentage of .122 on the weekend.

Offensively, Davis led the conference in hitting percentage on the weekend going .569 with only one error in 44 attempts.

In the national rankings, the Florida native ranks eighth in hitting percentage, averaging .426 on the season. Additionally, she ranks 18
th in blocks per set at 1.37 and 39
th in total blocks at 104.

This is the second conference weekly award a Duke has won, with
Miëtte Veldman earning the first Offensive Player of the Week award this season.

The Dukes will wrap up play in the Sun Belt East this weekend at Marshall on November 4 & 5.
