INDIANAPOLIS – After winning the Sun Belt Volleyball Championship, James Madison was awarded an automatic bid in the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship and will travel to the campus of Pitt to take on BYU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Dukes will compete in the tournament for the first time since 2017 and this is the sixth time the program has made the tournament. The team has never made it past the first round.

Should the Dukes advance, they will face the winner of the match between host, Pitt, and Colgate.

This will be the first meeting between the Dukes and the Cougars. Against the other teams in the bracket, JMU leads the series against Colgate 3-1 and have a 0-5 record against Pitt.

JMU finished the season ahead of the tournament with a program high 24-4 finish and an RPI of 22. The Dukes wrapped up the season with a 15 win streak starting October 7. The team put up impressive stats such as a hitting percentage of .275, which ranks 19th in the nation.
