Softball Gameday Updates for 2022 Season

HARRISONBURG, Va. - James Madison softball is excited to be back in Harrisonburg for the Dukes' home opener against Norfolk State on Thursday afternoon and the LD&B Insurance JMU Classic this weekend.

Heading into the 2022 season, fans should take note of updates around Veterans Memorial Park.

Seating Updates
Home games at VMP will be back at full capacity for the 2022 season. New bleacher seating on the left field fence has been added prior to the campaign, increasing capacity for softball games to 1,250.

Admission to all JMU softball games remains free to all patrons.

Updated Regulations in Right Field
The right field hill remains open for fans to catch the action, but new regulations have been put in place relating to fan and traffic safety.

Fans may no longer use the sidewalk atop the hill for seating, but are still permitted to sit on the grass hill beyond the right field fence.

Home Opening Weekend
JMU Softball is excited to welcome fans back for the home opener on Thursday, March 10 against Norfolk State at 3 p.m.

The 2021 Women's College World Series trophy will be on the concourse at VMP for fan viewing and photos beginning an hour before game time through first pitch. Last year's team will also be honored with a ceremony before the game, including a reveal of the section of the outfield wall commemorating the Dukes' accomplishment.

The Dukes will also host the LD&B Insurance JMU Classic this weekend from March 11-13, with the Dukes set to host Arkansas, Maryland and Lehigh. JMU will face Maryland on Friday at 4 p.m. to open their weekend, before facing Arkansas (1 p.m.) and Lehigh (3:30 p.m.) on Saturday and capping the weekend with a rematch against Maryland on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

Live Coverage
All JMU games this weekend will be streamed on FloSoftball, available through a FloSports subscription. This weekend's games against Maryland and Arkansas will also be available on 106.9FM and 1360AM WHGB, as well as on the Varsity App.

All 2022 home games will be live streamed, with the exception of the doubleheader against George Mason, which will be an audio-only stream.

Promotion Schedule
In addition to the festivities on Thursday, the Dukes will have multiple giveaways over the weekend, including seat cushions to the first 50 fans on Friday, team-autographed posters on Saturday and water bottles to the first 100 fans in attendance at Sunday's weekend finale.
