SURREY, B.C., Canada – James Madison softball alumni Jailyn Ford and Odicci Alexander helped the U.S. Women's National team capture the 2022 Canada Cup Championship title on Sunday.

Â
"The tournament was so much fun and such a great experience," said Ford. "It gave me an opportunity to reconnect with friends and teammates from all over the globe that I haven't seen in years. I value the knowledge about the game that I can learn from having so many different backgrounds and types of athletes and coaches. It's such a pleasure to be surrounded by the nation's top players and coaches. They're great people too which made the experience enjoyable for everyone. Playing for Team USA is a dream and I hope to continue to represent our country with pride."
Â
With Alexander and Ford on the pitching staff, the U.S. dominated in the circle, with a combined ERA of 1.50, with Ford throwing 13 strikeouts in the tournament.
Â
Alexander was part of a combined no-hitter for the Eagles against the Czech Republic and tallied her first national team win. Ford threw a shutout against Chinese Taipei and a no-hitter against the Netherlands to take Team USA to the championship game.
Â
