Alumnae Amy Altig (2005) and
Haley Warden (2018) each received gold medals for their contributions to Team USA's championship run. Former JMU volunteer assistant Colleen Shearer also helped the U.S. win gold while former assistant coach Emily Boissonneault won silver with Team Canada.
Â
Altig served as the assistant coach for Team USA, leading a goalkeeping squad which held a 4.88 goals against average for tournament. Altig was the Dukes' goalkeeper from 2002-05, leading the Dukes to two Colonial Athletic Association titles during her playing career. Emily Boissonneault was on the other side of the field during the championship game as she competed as a defender for Team Canada. She started all eight games for Canada, scooping seven ground balls, causing five turnovers and adding a goal. She recorded one groundball during Saturday's championship contest. Boissonneault was hired as a JMU assistant coach in 2015 and later was promoted to associate head coach in 2018.
