HARRISONBURG, Va. – Following an epic 25-point comeback win in its Sun Belt Conference opener, James Madison received votes in both the Associated Press Top 25 College Football Poll and the USA Today Sports AFCA Coaches' Poll.
JMU received four votes in the AP Top 25, while reeling in 11 votes in the USA Today Coaches' Poll. It additionally received one vote in the Football Writers Association of America-National Football Foundation Super 16 Poll.
Trailing 28-3 late in the second quarter, the Dukes mounted the largest comeback by any team in the FBS this season, scoring 29 unanswered points to rally past App State, 32-28, at Kidd Brewer Stadium on Saturday.
JMU outgained App by a 376-298 margin, which included a 172-63 ledger in the run game. Todd Centeio threw for two touchdowns while rushing for another, and Kaelon Black recorded a pair of rushing touchdowns in the victory.
This is the third time ever that JMU is receiving votes in the AP Top 25 and the first time for both the USA Today and FWAA-NFF Super 16 polls. Back in 2010, the Dukes received votes in the AP poll both on Sept. 12 (11) and Sept. 19 (8) following a win at Virginia Tech.
JMU (3-0, 1-0 Sun Belt) returns home on Saturday, Oct. 1 for Family Weekend when it hosts Texas State (2-2, 0-0 Sun Belt) in a 1:30 p.m. kickoff at Bridgeforth Stadium.
