MISSOULA, Mont. – Former James Madison outfielder
Jaylon Lee has signed a professional contract for the 2024 season with the Missoula PaddleHeads of the Pioneer League.

A graduate transfer from nearby Eastern Mennonite University, Lee helped the Dukes finish 31-25 in their first season in the Sun Belt Conference. JMU earned a bid into the conference tournament and picked up its first tournament win as a member of the league, defeating Old Dominion 2-1.

In his lone season at JMU, Lee played in 45 games with 33 starts as he hit .269 and primarily was a designated hitter and played in right field. He recorded a triple, four home runs, five doubles, 18 runs scored, 24 RBI's and 36 total hits while also stealing five bases. Lee provided the heroics on two different occasions, first being hit by a pitch to bring in the winning run in the 10
th inning against Georgia State in the series opener. He then hit a pinch-hit walk-off three-run homer two weeks later to give the Dukes a win in the opener against Louisiana.

Between his time EMU and JMU, Lee played in 186 games and slashed .319/.571/.386 with 13 triples, 34 home runs, 44 doubles, 45 stolen bases, 144 runs scored, 156 RBI's and 218 overall hits. He knocked his 200
th career hit in a 2-for-4 effort against Coastal Carolina on March 18. He was a three-time All-ODAC selection, a three-time All-Region Selection and two-time ODAC All-Academic Team selection while a Royal.

In the 2023 season, Missoula won the North Division with a record of 66-29 and was the homes of the league's batting average, earned run average, strikeout and wins leaders.

Lee is the third Duke to sign a professional contract after last season, as
Jack Cone and
Kyle Novak both signed with teams in the Frontier League in the Washington Wild Things and Joliet Slammers, respectively.
