HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison football has announced it has signed a single-game contract to play at Louisville in 2025, while its matchup at Virginia Tech has been moved back a year to 2026.
The Dukes will travel to Louisville on Sept. 6, 2025, in what will be the program's second meeting. The two met for the first time back on Nov. 5, 2022, a 34-10 home win for the Cardinals.
Additionally in 2025, the Dukes will open that season on Aug. 30 when they host Tennessee Tech out of the FCS's Ohio Valley Conference. This will be a first-time meeting between the teams.
JMU's previously announced game at Virginia Tech has been shifted back a season to Sept. 26, 2026, in Blacksburg. It will be the eighth meeting between the Dukes and Hokies, with VT leading 6-1. JMU won the last encounter on Sept. 11, 2010, in a 21-16 final at Lane Stadium.
With this move, JMU's home game against Miami (Ohio) has been moved to Sept. 20, 2031. The game at Miami will still remain on Sept. 16, 2028.
JMU now has 20 future non-conference games scheduled between 2024 and 2034.
