HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison quarterback Jordan McCloud was one of 35 FBS quarterbacks selected to the Davey O'Brien QB Class of 2023.
He was previously named to the O'Brien midseason watch list, but with his inclusion to this list, McCloud has been elevated to an official candidate for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.
Through eight games and seven starts, McCloud has thrown for 2,023 passing yards and 18 touchdowns with six interceptions. He's also rushed for 210 yards and four scores. McCloud has three or more touchdown passes in four of the past five games and has gone over 300 passing yards twice.
McCloud also ranks inside the top 20 in the FBS in four categories, including tied for 15th in points responsibility per game (16.5), 16th in pass efficiency rating (162.1), tied for 16th in yards per pass attempt (9.01) and tied for 17th in passing touchdowns (18). He's also ranked 21st in the FBS in yards per completion (13.76).
McCloud is the second JMU quarterback to garner this honor, joining Todd Centeio in 2022.
The award winner will be chosen based on a combination of votes from the Davey O'Brien National Selection Committee, as well as the Davey O'Brien Fan Vote on the award's Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
The first round of voting will run from Tuesday, Oct. 31 through Friday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. A total of 16 semifinalists will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 14.
