HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison Head Coach Bob Chesneyannounced that the football program has signed 11 future student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday as part of National Signing Day.
Â
The newest class of Dukes consists of five defensive backs (cornerbacks or safeties) three offensive linemen, two linebackers and one defensive lineman.
Â
JMU signed five players from North Carolina, three from the Commonwealth of Virginia, a pair from Pennsylvania and one from Maryland.
"We could not be more proud of the caliber of student-athletes that chose JMU in this first wave of our inaugural recruiting class," Chesney said. "These young men had many schools to choose from but there's only one James Madison University, only one JMU Dukes football program and only one JMU Nation!
Â
He continued, "They chose wisely. Our newest additions come from high-caliber football programs and wonderfully committed families that will continue to add to the championship culture that permeates every fiber of JMU and Harrisonburg. JMU Nation, please help me in welcoming the start of this outstanding class. Go Dukes!"
