LEXINGTON, Ky. – James Madison middle blocker
Sophie Davis was named to the Southeast American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region team, the organization announced Tuesday morning.
A First-Team All-Sun Belt selection, Davis finished the 2023 season with a team-leading 139 blocks (1.19 per set) and was second with 359 kills (3.07 per set). This is her fourth time earning an AVCA Regional award.
Davis wrapped up her JMU career as the school record holder in hitting percentage (.372), solo blocks (136), block assists (447), and total blocks (583). Her career average of 1.35 blocks per set is the second-best mark in the country, only behind Washington State's Magda Jehlarova.
The Dukes concluded 2023 with a 21-10 record, earning their first at-large bid to the Division I Women's Volleyball Championship. It was JMU's fourth bid since 2016, and second consecutive 20-win season.
