GREENVILLE, N.C. - Freshman
Václav Tichý picked up the best finish of his young career on Tuesday afternoon, leading the James Madison men's golf team to a third-place finish at the ECU Intercollegiate, hosted at the par-72, 6,830-yard Brook Valley Country Club.
Tichý finished tied for third himself on a leaderboard of 96 players, notching rounds of 74-70-71 (-1) on the week to earn his first individual top-five finish since joining the Dukes. The performance, which saw him lead the event in par-5 scoring (-7), also marked his first 54-hole score under par.
As a team, the Dukes closed strong, posting the lowest final round in the field (289, +1) on Tuesday to climb into sole possession of third place, just three shots behind host and team champion East Carolina.
