KK Mathis took home the Sun Belt Conference's top weekly honor on Tuesday afternoon, being tabbed the Player of the Week by the league.

The weekly honor is the first this season for Mathis and the first Sun Belt weekly honor for the program.

The second baseman had herself an impressive week at the plate for the Dukes, going 9-for-17 (.529) with a grand slam, four doubles, four runs scored and 12 RBI's across five games.

The freshman began her week with clutch hitting during JMU's doubleheader sweep of George Mason on Wednesday. During the first game with the game tied, Mathis launched her first career grand slam to push the Dukes ahead for good in the sixth inning. In the eighth inning of the second game, she came up big yet again with a walk-off double to secure the series sweep over the Patriots.

Against Georgia Southern, Mathis earned herself into a two-way tie at the top of the offensive leaderboard for the team going 6-for-9 (.667) over the weekend. Mathis was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in the series opener against the Eagles.

Mathis and the Dukes are back in action on Friday, Mar. 31 when they host No. 23 Louisiana. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park.
