Shifflett and Mathis Awarded Sun Belt All-Conference First Team Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La.- James Madison softball's graduate student Hannah Shifflett and freshman KK Mathis earned a spot on the Sun Belt Conference's All-Conference First Team, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.

First baseman Hannah Shifflett earned conference honors for the second year in a row. Shifflett totaled 46 starts at first base and noted a .316 batting average while leading the Dukes to 28 wins this past season. Shifflett led the team with 18 home runs, 108 total bases, and a .812 slugging percentage.

Second baseman KK Mathis earned her first honors from the conference as a Duke. The freshman started all 46 games at second base and complied an impressive resume as a first-year candidate. Mathis led the team with a .349 batting average, 48 hits, 13 doubles, and 41 RBIs.

JMU was one of six Sun Belt squads represented on the All-Conference First Team.

The Dukes are back in action against South Alabama in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Thursday at 11 a.m. ET. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
