JMU Celebrates Accomplishments with 2023 JMA Awards

HARRISONBURG, Va. - James Madison celebrated its year of achievements both on and off the field of competition with the 2023 JMA (James Madison Athletics) Awards on Wednesday afternoon on social media.

Female achieving individual success in competition while also significantly contributing to team success

Finalists: Sophia Davis (Volleyball), Kiki Jefferson (Women's Basketball), Isabella Peterson (Lacrosse), Eveline Zwager (Field Hockey)

Male achieving individual success in competition while also significantly contributing to team success

Finalists: Todd Centeio (Football), Tyler Clegg (Soccer), Fenwick Trimble (Baseball)

Recognizing female student-athletes who are balanced success in both academic and athletic achievement

Finalists: Katelyn Morgan (Lacrosse), Kylie Moulin (Tennis), Shelby Staib (Track & Field)

Recognizing male student-athletes who are balanced success in both academic and athletic achievement

Finalists: Melker Anshelm (Men's Soccer), Holden Koons (Men's Tennis), Nick Schlickenrieder (Men's Golf)

Presented to the female student-athlete making a significant impact in their first season of collegiate competition

Finalists: Maddie Epke (Lacrosse), Soleil Flores (Women's Soccer), KK Mathis (Softball)

Presented to the male student-athlete making a significant impact in their first season of collegiate competition

Finalists: Cameron Arnold (Men's Soccer), Owen Kose (Men's Golf), Mike Mancini (Baseball)

Given to the student-athlete who excelled in a single postseason game or event or over the course of a postseason tournament

Finalists: Sophia Davis (Volleyball), Peyton McDaniel (Women's Basketball), Isabella Peterson (Lacrosse)

Awarded to a team that achieved at a significantly high level over the course of postseason competition

The Dukes LEADer award goes to a student-athlete who went above and beyond in leadership enhancement, professional development, and civic engagement

Finalists: Rodrigo Robles (Men's Soccer), Felicity Ryan (Swimming & Diving), Cassidy Strittmatter (Field Hockey)

Given to a team that best exemplifies service to others and helping those in need in our community

Finalists: Field Hockey, Volleyball, Softball
