HARRISONBURG, Va. – Seven former James Madison football student-athletes are currently in training camps and competing for roster spots for the 2023 National Football League season.

The group consists of six players with previous professional experience, along with one rookie.

Returning NFL Dukes include quarterback Ben DiNucci (Denver Broncos), defensive lineman Mike Greene (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), safety Dean Marlowe (Buffalo Bills), cornerback Jimmy Moreland (New York Jets), offensive lineman Aaron Stinnie (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and offensive lineman Josh Wells (Jacksonville Jaguars).

JMU's lone rookie is 2022 senior cornerback Jordan Swann(Baltimore Ravens).

Wells is JMU's most-seasoned veteran in the league, entering his 10th season in 2023 and with his original team. Marlowe is in season nine in the NFL, the most of which he's spent in Buffalo. Moreland enters his fifth year in the NFL and his first in New York, while DiNucci returns to the NFL for year four after starting for Seattle in the XFL this past spring.

Down in Tampa, Stinnie is in year six in the NFL and his fifth with the Bucs, as he returns from injury a season ago. Greene, who spent time both with the practice squad and on the active roster in 2022, is back for his second NFL campaign.

In addition to players, former JMU quarterback Justin Rascati is the current assistant offensive line coach with the Minnesota Vikings.
Each NFL team will select 53 players for the active roster and place 16 others on the practice squad. Teams will play three preseason games, with the 2023 regular season beginning on Thursday, Sept. 7.
