HARRISONBURG, Va. — James Madison sophomore
Soleil Flores was named to the TopDrawerSoccer Women's Soccer National Team of the Week, the outlet announced Tuesday morning.Â
Â
This is Flores' first National Team of the Week honor of her career from TopDrawerSoccer.Â
Â
The defender helped anchor a backline that earned a pair of shutouts in the week. The Dukes first drew No. 13 Georgetown, holding the Hoyas to only five shots on goal in the match. It was the first result for JMU against a ranked opponent since a 2-1 win over No. 24 Wake Forest in 2014. JMU then took down Ohio, 1-0, to cap its non-conference portion of the season. The defense held the Bobcats to just two shot attempts all match, with neither put on goal. Ohio also attempted only three corner kicks, being held without one in the second half.Â
Â
The Dukes stand at 3-2-3 as they head into their Sun Belt Conference opener at Arkansas State on Friday, Sept. 15 at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT.
