NEW ORLEANS – James Madison softball has been picked fifth in the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Â
The Dukes enter their second year in the Sun Belt in 2024 after finishing the 2023 season with a record of 28-19 overall and 13-11 in conference play. Sophomore
KK Mathis highlights JMU's returners, as the infielder was named First Team All-Conference after leading the team in batting average (.336), hits (48), and doubles (12), along with hitting 12 home runs.

The Sun Belt, ranked sixth nationally in conference RPI, features two teams who competed in regionals in 2023: Louisiana and Texas State. JMU will host Texas State in a three-game series March 15-17 and travel to Louisiana April 5-7.
