Sun Belt Announces 2024 Football Cross-Divisional Opponents

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference unveiled its cross-divisional opponents list for the 2024 college football season on Thursday, which completes JMU's 12-opponent slate.

The Dukes will play six home games and six away games next season, with eight conference contests and four non-conference matchups.

Each season, an institution will play all six opponents in its division with three home and three away matchups. The conference slate is completed by facing two opposite division teams, with one home and one away contest.

Dates for the 2024 Sun Belt Conference schedule will be announced no later than March 1, 2024, as stated by the conference office.

JMU's home conference slate features matchups against Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, Marshall and Southern Miss. The Dukes will also take conference road trips to App State, Georgia Southern, Old Dominion and ULM.

It will be first-time meetings for JMU against both West Division Teams in Southern Miss and ULM.

The Sun Belt Conference approved the cross-divisional opponents format that will take seven years to complete. A full rotation is defined as one home contest and one away contest against each cross-divisional opponent.

JMU's 12-game schedule is completed with home games against Gardner-Webb on Sept. 7 and Ball State on Sept. 28, as well as road contests at Charlotte on Aug. 31 and at North Carolina on Sept. 21.

Game times and network designations for the first three weeks of the regular season will be announced by ESPN and the Sun Belt later in the spring.
