NEW ORLEANS– James Madison women's soccer midfielder
Jordan Yang has been named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. The nod marks the seventh weekly conference award this season for the Dukes.
The honor follows another clean week of play for JMU, which is riding an eight-game unbeaten streak and is 6-0-1 in conference play.Â
In the Dukes' lone game this week against App State, Yang provided the second assist on
Amanda Attanasi's first goal in the 18th minute while taking a career-high three shots, putting two on goal. She worked both sides of the field, also being a key member of a defense that allowed a season-low one shot from an App State attack that came into the match averaging almost 13 shots a game. JMU took the contest 3-0, its fourth overall shutout on the season and the second in the last three matches.
JMU returns to action on Oct. 23rd for its final home match when it welcomes Arkansas State to Sentara Park. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
