HARRISONBURG, Va. – Looking to build off of a run to the finals of the Raleigh Regional a season ago, Head Coach Marlin Ikenberry has announced the 2025 schedule for James Madison baseball on Friday morning.
Â
"The combination of non-conference and conference games for this schedule mimics last year's that had the fifth strongest non-conference schedule and 37th overall," said Ikenberry. "This is a challenging schedule that will prepare us for Sun Belt play and allow us to compete against some of the best programs in the country."
Â
The Dukes will face five teams that appeared in last year's NCAA Baseball Championship, including two regional hosts, as they begin the season on Feb. 14-16 at Men's College World Series semifinalist Florida State. JMU then enjoys an eight-game homestand following the trip to the Sunshine State, welcoming Radford for its home opener on Feb. 18. Weekend series against Canisius (Feb. 21-23) and Fairfield (Feb. 28-March 2) sandwich a midweek game against Virginia Tech (Feb. 25) to round out the stretch.
Â
JMU will return the trip to Virginia Tech and Radford respectively on April 29 and May 6 and will also play home-and-home's with Maryland (H: March 5; A: May 7) and George Mason (H: April 1; Away: April 15). A pair of one-off midweeks will also be featured on the slate, as the Dukes will host Richmond on March 25 before traveling to both Longwood on April 8 and Virginia on April 23.
Â
The final weekend series for the Dukes in non-conference action will take place in the Queen City, taking on Charlotte on March 7-9 before opening up Sun Belt Conference play the following weekend by hosting ULM at Veterans Memorial Park March 14-16. Four more Sun Belt teams will come to Harrisonburg, as the Dukes will host Georgia State (April 4-6), Troy (April 11-13), Coastal Carolina (April 25-27) and Old Dominion (May 9-11).
Â
Following the ULM series, the Dukes will take a six-day trip through the Mountain State as it will take on West Virginia on March 18-19 before a three-game set at Marshall March 21-23. JMU will go on the road four additional times in league action, traveling to Louisiana (March 28-30), App State (April 17-19) and Georgia Southern (May 2-4) before closing out the regular season at Texas State (May 16-17.
Â
