OXFORD, Ohio – James Madison was limited to three shots on goal as Miami (Ohio) captured its seventh consecutive Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Championship with a 3-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at Miami Stadium.
The Dukes (14-6, 7-1 MAC) were held to seven penalty corners and nine shots against a stout RedHawks' (13-7, 7-1 MAC) defense.
Goalkeeper Katie Fricke (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) recorded six saves including three on penalty corners. Alice Roeper (Delft, The Netherlands/Segbroek College), Skyler Brown and Cassidy Strittmatter (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) earned spots on the MAC All-Tournament Team.
Miami's Nicky Sjouken made three stops for her sixth shutout of the season. Paula Peña Martinez, Negrete Garcia and Carlie Servis all found the back of the net in the win. Martinez and Garcia also added assists, along with Berta Mata and Henriette Schlueter.
