Dukes Earn At-Large Bid, Set to Play Penn State in First Round

INDIANAPOLIS – James Madison lacrosse has earned an at-large bid to the 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship and will head to College Park, Md. to take on Penn State in the first round on Friday.Â

Maryland will host the first and second round with Robert Morris also competing at College Park.Â

The Dukes will play the Nittany Lions at 3 p.m following Maryland and Robert Morris facing off at noon on Friday, May 10.Â
Â
The winners of the first round will advance to the second round which will be played on Sunday, May 12 at 12:30 p.m.

Both the first and second rounds will be streamed on ESPN+.

JMU History with Penn State
JMU earned its ninth consecutive NCAA Championship bid after a season in which the Dukes went 13-5 overall and earned a spot in the American Athletic Conference Championship title game. The team was ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation for the first time during the regular season since 2000.Â
The Dukes have competed in every NCAA tournament since 2015 and have gone 9-7 in tournament games since then. Additionally, they won the 2018 national championship title.Â
