CÁCERES, Spain – Former James Madison midfielder Alba Fernández Almagro has signed her first professional contract with CP Cacereño Femenino of the Primera Federación Femenina, the second highest league in Spain.
Fernández Almagro finished out her four-year career in 2023 by helping lead the Dukes to an at-large bid into the NCAA Championship, the first NCAA appearance for the program since 2015. She played in 22 matches with 21 starts as she earned All-Sun Belt Second Team honors. She scored a pair of goals and an assist for five points.
In her career at JMU, she played in 61 matches with 47 starts. She finishes with six points from two goals and two assists with eight of her 17 shots being put on goal.
